The Department of Development and Water Resources said that at the moment there are about 50.5 million cubic meters of water in the dams all over the island. This means that the reservoirs are filled with no more than 18%. Last year, this figure exceeded 24%, which corresponded to 80 million cubic meters. Thus, the total volume of water reserves on the island decreased by 25%.
Experts attribute this to the dry summer and the hot beginning of autumn. However, weather services do not give optimistic forecasts – in the coming weeks there is no precipitation expected.
