Volunteers have requested the public to help in protection of the endangered donkey species.
The workers of the Sanctuary have visited a number of communities and villages with their request to assist in looking after the animals.
Earlier, donkeys were the oldest traditional form of transportation in Cyprus- no farmer was able to cope without donkeys. They were used to transport goods or simply to get to the required destination.
However, due to the implementation of the modern technologies, donkeys are not required anymore, which led to the critical decrease in their population.
