The press secretary of the UN Secretary-General Mr. Stefan Doujarric said that “The weekly meetings between the leaders of the two communities and other parties to the negotiations are aimed at returning to Geneva again”.
He did not comment on the discussion about the influence of Russia on the peace talks. He added only that the UN makes every effort in order to push the two leaders towards the resolution of the crisis.
Due to the above, the UN representative Espen Barth Eide flew out to Turkey where he discussed the Cyprus problem with the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mevlut Chavushoglu.
