The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs blamed the EU in political weakness. The reason for such accusations is that Brussels did not manage to prevent the blockage by Cyprus of the Turkey’s ascension to the EU.
The Minister pointed out that the reunification of the ethnically divided island is not a criteria for the negotiations in the political sphere, which are blocked by Nicosia.
He also added that Anakara supports the current peace negotiations in Cyprus and expects the EU to demonstrate significant effort.
