The new legislation concerning the safety of the road traffic on the island is aimed to significantly improve the current situation. The Ministry of transport has already decided upon 10 changes. Among them is to introduce criminal liability for the doctors, who forge the medical reports of the elderly people in order for them to renew their license. The special attention is also given to the use of the child seats.
Additionally, the number of the compulsory practical and theoretical exams to pass the test will increase. The minimum age to get the license will be decreased down to 17 years.
New rules will enter into force next year.
