The situation on the dams of Cyprus has improved, however new desalination plants are required.
The Department of the water development announced that the current situation in acceptable. Currently the dams are operating at 25% of their capacity, however this level is still lower than last year’s. The abundant precipitation and melting of the snow ensue optimism for the officials.
The new problem, which arose recently is the inoperative desalination plant in Paphos. The Public Prosecutor Mr. Costas Clerides said that the Water Development department prolonged the use of the equipment by 3 times, however it did not have any relevant powers.
Currently, there are four desalination plants working in Cyprus.
