The first ever Sambo championship among the students was organised in the Sports centre of the University of Nicosia. The contestants from 20 different countries were competing for the golden medal.
The best results were demonstrated by the competitors from CIS – Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who won the golden medals of the championship in all categories.
Cyprus also managed to get a medal- Gavriela Suid won bronze medal in category under 68 kg.
Overall, there were 17 sets of medals awarded in various categories.
