The Nicosia District Court announced the decision to extradite the citizen of Egypt – Seif ad-Din Mustafa. On the 29th of March 2016 he hijacked the A320 of EgyptAir which was flying from Alexandria to Cairo.
According to “Fileleftheros”, the Cyprus Court considered the arguments of the defendant and his representative about the risk of unfair trial in Egypt to be unconvincing. Moreover, the Court noted that the Cyprus authorities have received a confirmation from the Egyptian authorities that Mustafa will undergo a fair trial and that human rights will be safeguarded.
THe extradition procedure is expected to commence soon.
