The press secretary of the European Commission Mr. Margaritis Shinas stated that the EC refrains from making any comments about the current negotiations. He also added that the resolution of the Cyprus problem under the auspices of the UN is not to be revealed to the public at this stage and it is advisable to avoid making any statements and concentrate on the negotiations instead.
Therefore, the matter of freedoms of the citizens of the two communities of the future Federative Cyprus remains unclear.
