The environment protection fund Terra Cypria urged the authorities not to make concrete roads at the Lady’s Mile.
According to the activists, the Akrotiri swamps are sensitive ecosystem. Any intervention, which includes covering with tarmac or installation of street lighting can easily destroy vulnerable plants and animals.
First of all, it will decrease the number of sea turtles and migratory birds. The organisation suggests to find another solution.
The whole issue was brought up for discussion by the owners of the restaurants, who demanded to improve the access to Lady’s Mile.
