The Paphos Airport hosted the Search and Rescue operation “Tefkros 2017” in order to practice the actions during an emergency situation in real life.
According to the scenario, a plane made an emergency landing. On board, there were 30 passengers and 5 crew. During the landing, 7 people sustained serious injuries and got blocked inside the plane, 21 dies and 7 gone missing.
The drills were conducted in cooperation with the operators at Hermes Airport. The operation was managed by the JRCC in Cyprus.
The operation also featured firemen, policemen, National guards and individuals from civil defence, Forestry Department and Emergency Department EMAK.
