Due to the current increase in sales, the shop owners are urging the government once and for all set the legislation for the shop opening hours.
The Parliament, in turn, already announced that legislation which was adopted in 2006 and which bans Sunday shopping, is obsolete and working hours of the shops in Cyprus must be reconsidered and regulated.
The Secretary General of the POVEK Association said that small and medium enterprises depend on the sales in December, so the trading must be regulated in the period of the year. He also added, that apparently Sunday shopping does not affect income in any way.
