3 fires in different places broke out in Limassol on Sunday. The fourth fire started later in Erimi area. As a result, the fire destroyed 2.5 hectares of carob trees and wild vegetation.
On the same day, the fire started on the roof of the greenhouse in Protaras. To eliminate fire, firefighters used 2 cars and a helicopter. Within 2 hours, the flame was taken under control.
As the fire department reports, the bamboo grove and acacia trees were damaged. No human casualties were reported.
Later, the fire broke out in Nicosia. To fight the disaster firemen needed help of helicopters. As a result, after 3 hours the fire was extinguished, leaving 2.5 hectares of greenery destroyed.
Representative of the Fire Service of Cyprus Andreas Kattis said that the causes of fires are still being established and investigation is underway.
