The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus denies the accusation of Turkish Cypriots of not allowing Serbian children to enter the occupied territory of northern Cyprus.
Participants of the children’s dance group from Serbia landed in Larnaka airport and planned to head to the northern part of the island.
The group was told that after crossing the border and entering internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic, the safety of its members can not be guaranteed and it will be also considered a violation of the UN resolution.
Cyprus officials claim that members were not barred from entering the republic and the situation occurred due to misunderstanding of parties. As a result, 17 out of 20 participants of the group left Cyprus and flew back to Belgrade.
