Regardless of the recent downpour, the situation on the dams around Cyprus is still not very optimistic.
According to the water development Department, the rains could not improve the difficult situation. Unfortunately, it can only be improved by a very long and strong rain.
The Director of the Department – Mr. Andreas Manoli said that currently, the dams are working only at 20% of their capacity. The situation is approaching a critical zone, like it was in 2013-2014.
The water deposits decreased by a half since last year. Currently, the amount of water available at the dams is 53 million m³.
