Paphos Police informs that the flames in the industrial zone of Agia Varvara appeared at noon on Monday.
It took 3 units of the equipment and several hours for the fire brigade to stop the disaster. Strong gusts of wind made fire-fighting operation more difficult, however, after several hours the flame was eliminated. As a result, cars abandoned on the landfill site got seriously damaged.
Police spokesman Michalis Ioannou said that the scale of the damage has yet to be assessed by specialists. The causes of ignition are also unknown, while investigation continues.
