Large percentage of Cypriots are suffering from problems caused by excessive body weight.
According to the statistics, only 29,6% of people in Cyprus have normal body weight. However, not everybody is suffering from excessive weight. About 6% of the population has weight which is less than normal. These figures were acquired as the result of the research conducted by the “Cyprus Diet&Food” Association in order to celebrate the recent National Day of Healthy eating.
The Minister of Health has stated at the press-conference that obesity also concerns children. Moreover, the British researchers have found out that Cyprus men have the highest BMI in Europe.
