Following the numerous complaints to the government connected with the work of the lifeguards, the number of lifeguards across the beaches in Cyprus will increase and their working hours will be extended by 2 hours with the relevant over-time payments.
Moreover, the government will subsidise the local authorities in order to stimulate hiring of new lifeguards. The Council of Ministers has approved the possibility to hire 9 lifeguards with payments by hour for each municipality.
The Minister of Interior Mr. Socrates Hasikos also added that the government will consider the matter of purchasing the necesary equipment for the life guards.
