The Ministry of Health announced launch of a public campaign informing about new smoking rules, approved at the beginning of the year.
Now smoking is prohibited at the workplace, for example, in hospitals, schools and children playgrounds. As noted by the Ministry, “Cyprus is one of the leading countries for smoking at the workplace. Smoking ban indoors is very important “. After campaign launch, 294 staff members of government clinics have already signed up for participation in “Quit Smoking” action.
Cyprus organized campaign is part of a global World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) initiative, which is celebrated on May 31st with the support of the World Health Organization. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of risks associated with smoking.
