Cyprus traffic police will introduce more patrols on the island’s roads. During the summer season, some of police officers will be transferred from office positions to patrolling. A total number of 51 policemen are expected to patrol highways up until 15th September.
The Department of Traffic Police believes that these measures will help preventing serious traffic accidents, as well as help reducing the number of fatal accidents.
Last week alone, 5 people were killed because of traffic accidents in Cyprus. Since 2008, 574 people have died in road accidents.
