Cyprus’ Minister of Defense and his Israeli colleague have participated in the opening ceremony of the monument dedicated to the friendship of the two countries. During Holocaust, many children were sent through Cyprus to Israel. 2200 children were born on the island in the military hospital, awaiting decision about their future return to the Motherland.
Arrival of Mr. Ya’alon is a historical event, because t is the first official visit of an Israeli minister to the island.
Yesterday in the National Guard’s Headquarters two delegations have participated in the negotiations.
Later on during the day, Mr.Ya’alon has visited a military camp – a British military hospital in the past – in Nicosia, where the ceremony was held.
