The majority at the Council of Europe has voted on 1st of February for the decision to abolish mobile roaming in the EU. Cyprus, as well as Greece, Croatia and Spain stated the negative impact of this decision for the tourist destinations.
The experts in Cyprus are saying that usually, during the tourist season, the incoming traffic is several times higher than outgoing calls. With the abolition of roaming, the domestic operators will be suffering costs, which will lead to increase of tariffs of customers in the Republic.
The afore-named decision must be confirmed by the European Parliament and all EU Member States, however experts are saying that it can be considered as done already.
