Energy consumption in Cyprus reached 1,090 MW for 1 day. The highest indicator for the last 7 years was recorded on Monday, 3rd July. In 2010, the maximum electricity network load was equal to 1148 MW per day.
George Ashikalis, the representative of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus, said that the consumption of electricity on the island is gradually increasing every year. However, the capacity of the network is still enough to meet the demand up to 1260 MW.
The reason for record energy consumption was the abnormal air temperature in June.
