The statement was released on a World Press Freedom Day emphasizing the importance of political stability in the country to ensure the freedom of speech.
Journalists noted that the situation at the moment is made difficult by the presence of more than 30 thousand Turkish militants in the North, as well as influence of political parties and the Orthodox Church in the South.
Nevertheless, according ‘Reporters Without Borders’ organization, Cyprus was ranked 3rd in the World Press freedom Index among 180 world countries.
