The drilling of Leviathan-5 is part of the common plan to develop the site on the Mediterranean shelf. In accordance with the set targets, overall 8 well will be drilled. Some of them were planned for back in 2013.
Then, the shareholders have signed the 10 billion contract to supply gas to Jordan. Currently, the companies which are responsible for the development of the field are considering possibilities to export gas to Europe through Cyprus.
The Leviathan field was discovered 6 years ago and was acknowledged as one of the biggest fields, which were found in 2000’s.
