The press-secretary of the Civil Defence has announced that Israel has expressed deep gratitude to Cyprus for assitance in extinguishing fires. Olivia Michaelidou also added that firefighters were trying to extinguish dozens of fire sources and only yesteday the situation was returned under control.
The Israeli officials suspect that the fires in the centre of Haifa were started by Arabic arsonists. 170 buildings were destroyed and luckily no human lives were lost.
Apart from Cyprus, the help was rendered by Russia, Greece, U.K., Egypt and some other countries of the world.
