A complex surgery was performed in children’s hospital in Greece on a 5 month-old child diagnosed with rare Hirschsprung’s disease. The disease is a congenital anomaly of the development of large intestine. Pathology occurs on average once in 5 thousand children and can be effectively treated with surgical intervention.
Surgery was performed by doctors from the University of Athens and surgeons of the medical school of the University of Cyprus, including a well-known paediatric surgeon Zakaria Zakariu.
Baby has been now released from the hospital and returned home with his parents.
