Despite the objections of the Turkish side, drilling operations for gas exploration in Cyprus will begin in mid-July.
Drilling ship West Capella will conduct exploration drilling and research on the island from July 10th to October 15th. The drilling area covers the 11th section of the Exclusive Economic Zone of Cyprus, where the Onesiphoros spot is located. This is the area where the French company Total also plans to start drilling on July 14th. Previously, the company obtained the license to explore offshore fields.
As reported earlier, exploration drilling will help to acknowledge the presence of reserves of hydrocarbons in Cyprus, primarily – gas.
