The President of France – Mr. Francois Hollande has refused the plan to perform a constitutional reform, which would allow to revoke the French citizenship from the terrorists.
Hollande has brought up the initiative to amend the constitution after the terrorist attacks in Paris on 13th of November. The initiative included the modification of the rules concerning the state of emergency, as well as the possibility to revoke the citizenship from individuals who were found guilty of terrorism.
Both parliamental assemblies conducted long discussions on the above matter, however they failed to compromise. Hollande blamed the right-wing opposition parties which are “hostile to any amendments of the constitution”.
