The water supply for farmers will be cut down by 16%. In real figures, it is 7 million cubic meters less, than last year.
The relevant decision was announced by the SEDY and Council of Ministers. The authorities explain that this was a forced decision because currently the dams across Cyprus are only 30% full and summer will be quite dry.
The last time when dams were overflowing was 13 years ago. Back then, farmers were able to use water in unlimited quantities and used almost 70 million cubic meters.
