Area around Famagusta was shaken by the small earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale.
According to the Cyprus Seismological Centre, the epicentre of the earthquake was 20 km south-west of Paralimni, near the Ayia-Thekla area. It was also felt in Larnaka area and in some areas of Nicosia.
The head of the geological service, Dr. Kostas Konstantinou, told CyBC channel that the earthquake was relatively strong, but there is no reason for panic.
Earthquakes are a normal phenomenon in Cyprus, that occur several times a year.
