Pavlos Contidis, who performs in the class of racing yachts “Laser”, won first place at the World Championships in Croatia. Despite the problems with the sail, the Cypriot became the best of 150 athletes from around the world, following the results of the 5-day competition. The yachtsman himself stated that the championship was a real war for him, however, the readiness for battle helped him achieve a triumph, and overtake the Australians Tom Burton and Matthew Wearn.
Let’s add that this is the first gold for Contidis. Previously, the athlete became the silver medalist of the Olympic Games in London and took the 2nd place at the World Championship in Oman.
