By the end of the year, Cyprus will host the first tripartite meeting with the representatives of Greece and Lebanon. President Anastasiades announced the plans after discussion with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun.
Among other questions, the issues concerning “Cyprus talks”, regional problems, as well as measures to tackle smuggling were discussed at the meeting. This concerns illegal sale of antiquities and artefacts from the Middle East to Europe. In addition, the presidents discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in the energy sector.
For almost seven years Cyprus and Lebanon have been negotiating the delineation of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) between the two countries. The agreement is still to be reached.
Cyprus delegation will return to the island on 14th June.
