The legislation concerning the access to public information is pending discussion and voting in Cyprus. Up until now, the population was unable to access statistical or archived data, due to the restricted access.
According to the new legislation, the population will have the right to access the required data upon submitting a request, which can also be done through internet.
The new legislation also provides for the training of the officials, who will handle the requests and data. Technically, the implementation of this will take approximately 3 years.
