According to the report published by European Environment Agency, about 100 million people across Europe are affected by increasing noise levels.
With the main reason for noise pollution in Europe being traffic, Cyprus is not an exception.
Research shows, that more than 400 thousand people in Limassol and Nicosia are exposed to noise pollution on a daily basis. The acceptable and safe noise level is set not to exceed 55 decibels (dB) in the daytime and 50 dB at night.
World Health Organization have noted that traffic noise remains the second most dangerous environmental stressor in Europe.
