A team of students and graduates of the University of Cyprus was recognized as the best among 2 thousand participants from 69 countries.
Students won the Space Apps Challenge 2017 with the idea of an air emergency shelter. This innovative device can be used during natural disasters, in case if immediate evacuation is impossible. Shelters can be installed in advance or sent by air during the accident.
Each shelter can accommodate up to 18 people and protect against fire, floods, earthquakes and landslides. The location of the nearest shelter can be determined using a special application for mobile phones.
