Anyone can become an ‘adoptive parent’ for the griffon vulture, the greater flamingo or the European roller by donating 35 euro to BirdLife Cyprus. The ‘adoptive parent’ will receive a symbolic ‘adoption’ certificate and illustrative postcards with the information on the chosen bird.
The initiative was introduced by the environmental organization BirdLife Cyprus. All funds received as part of ‘adopt a bird’ campaign will be used to protect farmlands and wetlands, which is a natural habitat for wild birds. Conservation of natural habitat areas is a top priority for environmental organizations in Cyprus and Europe to help protect wild and migratory birds.
