The conference on Cyprus reunification ended again with no results. In this regard, a meeting of the National Council for Foreign Policy will be held today.
Among the main reasons for the failure inability of parties to reach an agreement on “controversial issues” is being mentioned, as well as the incompetence of the UN Special Advisor Espen Barth Eide. He is being accused of the use of incorrect facts and lack of control over the situation during the negotiations.
Therefore, for the time being negotiations on Cyprus can be put on hold for an indefinite period of time. It is expected that the UN will continue efforts to unite the island, as soon as Espen Barth Eide leaves his post.
