The Cyprus police, in Nicosia alone, fined almost 1000 drivers for violating the traffic rules. During the 24 hour campaign, the officers caught 985 perpetrators.
According to the report, the most frequent violations were exceeding the speed limit, driving on the side of the road, failure to use the seat belt and use of mobile phones while driving.
Police also reminds the public that such campaigns are aimed to reduce the number of traffic accidents in Cyprus.
