AKEL and other supporters of the ex-mayor of Limassol– Andreas Christou filed an application to recount the voting ballots of the elections, which took place in December.
The request to the District Court of Limassol was signed by the residents, who voted for Mr. Christou, and by the AKEL officials. The application was based on the news that, according to some data, votes of people who voted for Christou, were not counted. Mr. Christou did not comment this because the new mayor Nicos Nicolaides already took the office.
According to the counting of the votes, Nicolaides received 13920 votes, which is only 9 votes more than for Christou.
