Head of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) Ntinos Kakkouras said that “Cyprus will again beat the tourist record.” Statistical data for the first quarter of this year has not yet been released, but according to preliminary data, the numbers definitely will beat last year’s figures, when it was 400 thousand tourists.
The main reason for this success was the modernization of tourism services and hotel business in previous years, as well as government incentives for hoteliers. In addition, Cyprus airports plan to introduce new summer destinations, which will increase their capacity by 35%.
175 thousand passengers have already visited Larnaka airport, which is more than last year.
Experts believe that the next stage in tourism development will be creation of a special agency and promotion of Cyprus also as a winter holiday destination.
