The first British emigrant couple, who settled in Amargeti village in Paphos, invited the entire village to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their wedding.
John and Mavis Cooper bought a house in the village in the 1990s. They were active members of the British society in Cyprus and promoted Amargeti area among other expat couples, many of whom followed their advice.
For their contribution to the development of the village and community, Amargeti council presented a commemorative plaque with the couple’s names.
Community leader Androulla Demetriou added that the wedding anniversary celebrants have fully integrated into the village life, being with the community for many years in happy and challenging times.
