The chairman of the Paphos Kidney Association Graham Brown confirmed that dialysis machines have already been installed, and now the staff will undergo a special training to learn how to operate them.
He also added that currently more than 70 patients in Paphos require regular dialysis treatment. Thanks to the new machines, patients will not need to travel to Nicosia for taking these vital procedures. Patients suffering from isolated systolic hypertension condition will still need to travel to Nicosia for the treatment, where the only special dialysis device for such patients is available.
Graham Brown also added that next step should be the creation of a new department for dialysis patients. He has already sent the relevant application to the government.
