The court of the British military base Dhekelia issued 13 fines for poaching in the last 10 days. Illegal bird hunters were caught, thanks to the system of hidden video surveillance.
The cameras were installed as a joint initiative with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) recently last year. All of them are equipped with motion sensors and recorded attempts to catch small birds using spider webs. As a result, poachers had to pay between 800 and 2.5 thousand euro.
In the past migration period, 78 poachers were arrested on the territory of the British military base in Dhekelia.
