The Rialto Theatre in Limassol will host the broadcast of the play “Woe from Wit” form the Moscow Theatre “Sovremennik”.
The works of the director Rimas Touminas are always full of suprises, metaphors and paradoxes. He has taken an artistic approach to Griboedov’s “Woe from Wit”: Famusov is walking on the scene in the sheep coat and cutting the books with an axe, and footman Petrushka is pretending to be a dog. The Famusov’s family has their home serf theatre: guests are getting ready to watch the pantomime, Petrushka is starting an unknown device in front of them, which totally occupies the guest’s attention while it spins and does not fall down. Regardless of the fact that the serf theatre was not included in the book, this scene stresses the fact that the interests of the general public are quite narrow, as well as the relative monoculture of free time spending.
- Director: Rimas Touminas;
- Cast: Sergei Garmash, Elena Plaksina, Darya Belousova, Vladislav Vetrov, Ivan Stebunov, Alexander Berda and others.
The play will be broadcasted in Russian language with Greek subtitles.
