“Musical Journeys”- concert in Nicosia

Musical Journeys

Saturday 23rd of April at 19:30

The Pallas Theatre in Nicosia will host the solo recital with works made by female composers.

The granting for women of rights solely in relation to the domestic spheres many years ago usually excluded talented female composers and performers from the lists of recognized musicians. Traditionally, it was thought that women’s activities were supposed to be limited to handicrafts and so on, whereas the work in the concert halls was allocated to men. Therefore, the vast majority of their works became decorations in salons and music halls and only few of the musical works produced by women received due recognition.

The soloists of the Ledra Music are presenting their solo concert for cello and piano, which is dedicated to the works of the female composers.

The visitors will embark on a musical journey filled with rich and diverse programme of woks from the XIX, XX and XXI centuries.

The concert will include the works of Rainier Henriette and Cecile Chaminade from France, Louise Adolf Le Beau and Joanna Senfter from Germany, Grazhina Bacewicz from Poland, Amy Beach from America, Christina Athinodorou and Artemis Aifotiti from Cyprus.
