From Monday 27th until Friday 31st of March
The Russian Science and Culture centre in Nicosia, with the support of the Embassy of Russian Federation in the Republic of Cyprus and in cooperation with the Russian theatre in Cyprus “Ostrov”, “Volshebniy mir teatra” company and “Angara” art school are organising the first international theatre festival “Five evenings in Cyprus“, which is aimed to support the development of the theatre arts, to expand the bilateral cooperation between Russia and Cyprus in the cultural sphere and to enrich the cultural life on the island.
The festival will feature participants from Russia and Cyprus, who will present to spectators their performances. AMong the special guests, there will be ex-president of Cyrus Mr. Dimitris Christofias, Ambassador of Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Stanislav Osadchiy, as well as director, script-writer and artistic director of the opera ggroup of the Mikhailovskiy theatre Mr. Vasiliy Barhatov and many others.
Schedule of the festival:
Monday 27th of March
- 19:00 — Opening ceremony;
- 19:30 — Vodeville “Trouble from the tender heart”, fantasy based on the play written by V. Sollogub (Moscow State theatre – “Otkrovenie” studio).
Tuesday 28th of March
- 19:00 — Comedy “Summer of love or Beautiful life!”, fantasy based on play written by I. Turgeniev “One month in the village”. (Moscow State drama theatre “Benefis”).
Wednesday 29th of March
- 19:00 — Performance by the Mariinsky theatre soloist and winner of the opera “Oscar” – International Opera Awards: Asmik Grigorian;
- 20:00 — Drama “Alone with everyone” based on the play written A. Gelman (Cyprus drama theatre “Antilogos”, Nicosia).
Thursday 30th of March
- 19:00 — Comedy “Elder son” based on the play written by A. Vampilov (Moscow youthe theatre “Theatre osobniak”).
Friday 31st of March
- 17:00 — Art meeting “Soul wide open” with prominent figure of the theatre industry, script-writer, artistic director of the opera group of the Mikhailovskiy theatre, Member of the Presidential Culture and Art Council Mr. V.A. Barhatov.
- 19:00 — Novel “Melody of the Aleutski islands”, based on letters and plays written by A. Chekhov (Sergievo-Posad theatre-studio “Teatralniy Kovcheg”);
- 20:30 — Closing and award ceremony.
Professionals and amateurs of the theatre art are also invited to meet with the representatives of the State and public organisations at the round table, as well as attend work shops of the famous directors and photo exhibitions.
Entrance for all events is free.
The distribution of the free tickets will start on 13th of March.
